The aims of Oxford Consumer Group

 

The Group achieves its aims by:

  • distributing a quarterly Magazine which provides information for members and a forum for the exchange of ideas

  • spreading information about consumer matters, often through local press and radio

  • involving members in surveys, information-gathering and projects. Informal projects meetings are held regularly and members are welcome to attend and suggest subjects of interest.

  • Making representations to relevant individuals and organisations

  • Lobbying local councillors and members of parliament when appropriate

  • Directly participating in local and national consultative bodies

  • Networking and cooperating with other local groups and the National Consumer Federation

  • Services Register - maintaining a list of firms and traders who provide good or satisfactory services recommended by individual members

  • Assisting members to seek redress.
